Test day do’s and don’t.
-
- Do remember to cancel the indicator once pulled up and stopped.
- Don’t block a driveway or park opposite a junction.
- Don’t indicate if there is no gap to set off,
- Do look out for 20 mph zones. Keep your eyes peeled!
- Stay clam it’s not a race!
- Stay focused. Don’t dwell on what has happened. That can’t be changed!
- Take CONTROL of the situation. Do you KNOW the outcome? Or are you simply hoping for the best!
- Pedestrian crossings, remember if amber light is flashing and ALL pedestrians have crossed, you should proceed.
- Zebra crossings, be vigilant, look at both sides. Remember, wait for pedestrians to clear the whole crossing before moving on.
- Traffic lights on green, how long have they been on? Is there a 4th light ( filter)? Did you notice if it’s been and gone? Are the lights likely to go to Amber? How is your speed?
Junctions:
Emerging.
What is your view like ? Do you need to peep and creep? If you do and you see car, what will you do? (stop), hopefully.
Approaching.
Can you see into the Rd? Is it gear 1 or gear 2? Remember, better to be slow, you can always speed up! Are there pedestrians? Could you stop to allow them to cross? Is it safe?
Manoeuvres:
Remember, before moving, always check mirrors and blind spots ( even if you know the car park is as quiet as can be). Still, LOOK AROUND each time before moving. With all Manoeuvres, you can make adjustments if needed, but LOOK first.
